Coronado
Coronado (meaning “the crowned one” in Spanish) is a picturesque peninsular community of 7.4 square miles located at the southwestern corner of San Diego County. It is almost completely surrounded by water and would be an island except for a long, narrow strip of land called The Silver Strand running from its south end to the mainland of San Diego County, connecting at Imperial Beach. State Highway 75 runs along “The Strand” (as it’s called locally) providing motor vehicle access to Coronado. On Coronado’s east side lies San Diego Bay and on its west, the Pacific Ocean. Therefore, homeowners on Coronado’s east side have not only views of picturesque San Diego Bay, but also of San Diego’s expansive skyline which is especially lovely at night. Residents on the west enjoy views of gorgeous white sand beaches and spectacular ocean sunsets. Read the rest of this entry »
