Cardiff-by-the-Sea

Cardiff-by-the-Sea, often referred to as Cardiff, is a beach community located between Encinitas and Solana Beach in San Diego County, California. It is 25 miles north of San Diego. The Pacific Ocean is to the west of the city, Encinitas on its east and north, and a beach and lagoon on its south. With a population of under 12,000, Cardiff-by-the-Sea operates as part of the city of Encinitas, but has its own ZIP code (92007), unlike the other communities that comprise parts of Encinitas: Leucadia and Olivenhain.
Many residents live on hillsides with gorgeous ocean views but are still within commuting distance to downtown San Diego.
Primarily residential, there are two hotels in town, fine dining, shops and the beautiful Pacific Ocean which attracts tourists to the region. San Elijo State Beach Campground, provides opportunities for tent camping right on the ocean. Locals and travelers alike, enjoy bird watching and hiking along the trails in the San Elijo Lagoon and running and biking along the beachside highway.
For those who seek the beauty of a small ocean side town, Cardiff-by-the-Sea is known for its charm, village hospitality and warm, sunny weather.
